About us

eHealth Observatory Research Team

The eHealth Observatory is headed by Dr. Francis Lau, Professor in the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria in British Columbia Canada, and Applied eHealth Chair, co-sponsored by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Canada Health Infoway. The College of Pharmacists of British Columbia has also sponsored path-finding research focused on medication management (eDrug).

Current Members

Francis Lau, MSc, MBA, PhD, Professor and CIHR/Infoway Applied Chair in eHealth

Dr. Lau is a health informatician researcher with a medical laboratory science and business administration background; working in the areas of eHealth evaluation, terminology standards and palliative care informatics.

Morgan Price, MD, PhD, CCFP and Assistant Professor, UBC Department of Family Practice

Morgan is a practicing family physician and researcher in clinical informatics. He is interested in exploring user experience with clinical systems to find improvements to clinical care.

Jes Bassi, MSc

Jes is a research analyst/coordinator with the eHealth Observatory. Her areas of interest are systems analysis, evaluation and educational applications of health information systems.

Nicole Kitson, MSc, PhD

Nicole is a researcher with the eHealth Observatory. Her expertise includes exploring change management (EHR implementation) with marginalized populations within resource-poor environments.

Dennis Lee Hon Kit, MSc (PhD Candidate)

Dennis is a PhD student at UVic and is interested in health data standards such as HL7 and SNOMED CT. He also provides support on eHealth Observatory projects.

Julie Kim, MEng (PhD Candidate)

Julie is a PhD student at UVic, studying complex interventions in health informatics. Her focus is end-of-life care in primary care settings.

Colin Partridge, MD, CCFP

Colin is a clinician researcher with the eHealth Observatory, providing support and clinical expertise on several projects.

Paule Bellwood, BSc (MSc Candidate)

Paule is a MSc student in Health Information Science at UVic and provides support on eHealth Observatory projects.

Jeff Barnett, MSc, FCSHP

Jeff is the Director of Clinical Informatics at the BC Cancer Agency and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria. He has also provided support on eHealth Observatory projects.

Grey Showler

Grey has worked on projects with the eHealth Observatory.
